What is the FEA Field Staff Conference?

FEA’s Field Staff Conference is an event specifically targeted to traveling consultants and other field staff members and aims to enhance the development of interfraternal relationships, provide understanding on the deeper meaning of Greek life, and incorporate theories, skills and techniques that will benefit consultants while traveling.

Who is the FEA Field Staff Conference for?

Field Staff is designed specifically for traveling field staff members (leadership and education consultants, expansion consultants, field secretaries, etc.) and incorporates a variety of curriculum including: consulting skills, facilitation skills, active training, as well as a fraternal values discussion facilitated by Don “Dipper” DiPaolo.

When and where is the FEA Field Staff Conference in 2008?

Field Staff begins Wednesday, July 23rd through Friday, July 25th, 2008.  Curriculum will begin Wednesday afternoon and conclude on Friday evening. We will be hosted by Miami University, located in Oxford, Ohio (about 45 miles northwest of Cincinnati).

Specifically, Richard Hall will be our residence hall and most of the programming will take place in Shriver Center.

Do consultants/facilitators that already live in Oxford have to stay at Richard Hall?

Participants and facilitators that already live in Oxford can stay at their permanent residence; however, they are expected to be at the sessions at the same time as all other participants/facilitators.

How do I get to the Field Staff Conference?

The check-in table for the conference will be located on the first floor of Richard Hall.  If using Mapquest for directions, please use the following address:  501 South Oak Street - Oxford, OH 45056

Campus Maps and walking directions from Richard Hall to Shriver will be provided at registration.

What time do I need to arrive?

Facilitators – most facilitators are arriving on Tuesday night, however, if you plan to arrive Wednesday morning, make sure you arrive at the Shriver Center by 9:00am for facilitator training.  Jason Waggoner will be at Richard Hall Tuesday night to check facilitators in.  (Jason’s cell phone number is 513-255-1090).  Please try to arrive in Oxford by 9:00pm if possible.

Participants - Registration is Wednesday morning from 11:00 am till 1:00pm at Richard Hall, 1st Floor.  Curriculum starts promptly at 1:00 pm in the Shriver Center Multipurpose Room which is a short walk from Richard Hall.

What do I wear?

The attire for the duration of the conference is business casual (collared shirts, slacks and dress shoes).  Casual clothes (i.e. jeans, shorts, appropriate t-shirts) will be welcomed at the group’s social activity on Monday night!

Who will I be rooming with?

The majority of the rooms are doubles, so plan on having a roommate, however, some people may also be in triples or quads.  Part of this experience is branching out and meeting new people, so it’s likely you will not be rooming with staff members from your own organization. Very few singles are available and only a couple people may have this option.

What is this year’s social event?

This year the entire group will be taking an evening trip to King’s Island theme park.  Buses will pick us up Thursday evening from Richard Hall at 4:45 pm and we will return to Oxford around 11:00 pm.  If you want more details about the park and what it offers, please click here.

*Please bring your own money for dinner and snacks this night at the park.
